Day 84: Frustration.

Without a vehicle, there was no way we were going to get to church today. It was extraordinarily frustrating because there were very few taxi’s available on Sundays. And we didn’t think to get the taxi driver from Saturday night to take us back to the car. Ted needed to go to the car because the telephone number for the rental agency was in the car. I kept trying to find a taxi but either they didn’t speak English or the numbers were wrong. It was indeed very frustrating. Ted thought I wasn’t helping the matter but I didn’t know what else to do.

He became frustrated and said he was going for a walk. I figured he would just go somewhere and try to call one of his co-workers to take him to the car, but he didn’t.

It turns out he walked to the center of Bonlanden to the bus station and took the bus to Bernhausen where the car was located. He finally called me to let me know what he had done and that he was going to get a new rental. It was further exasperated by the fact that the rental agreement had JUST run out the day before. He needed special authorization to extend the contract for a few days until his company could deal with extending the contract until 7/13/09.

He finally returned after 3pm with a new car. But this time, the car was a silver VW Golf and used regular gasoline. We had dinner and then waited until it was time to go do laundry. By the time the laundry was done and we returned back to the apartment it was almost midnight and time for bed. Tomorrow is another day!
