Day 368: Weather turning.

The weather is clouding up.  It's supposed to rain today.  Yuck!  I was loving the mild spring weather but I  guess I have to accept that rain is part of  Spring!  I did more company work today.

Day 367: And more Spring cleaning!

I did even more Spring cleaning today.  I love the smell of laundry drying in the sun and wind!  The balcony and the drying rack works great!  

I bowled a few more games and we went to Mamma Maria's for dinner.  We didn't stay for music because Ted was so tired plus we had a table way in the other room.

Day 366: More Spring Cleaning!

I did more Spring cleaning because it's so beautiful out!  I'm doing all kinds of laundry and hanging everything  out on drying rack on balcony.  I bowled some more.

Day 365: Spring cleaning anyone?

Since it was a gorgeous day out today and is supposed to be tomorrow as well, I'm going to launder the throw rugs and let them hang out to dry on my drying rack on our bedroom balcony.  I love this weather!!!  I need to get over to the bank to change out all of our coins that we have been accumulating since we got here.  Ted dislikes having .01, .02, .05, .10 and .20 cent Euros in his pocket so he's been putting them in a dish and the dish is overflowing!

I also bowled six games.  What a trip!!  It's so much fun, I can't stand it.  I also was able to get a couple of hours of company work done too.  I'm making Mexican tonight for dinner.

Day 364: One Year Anniversary!

Today marks the ONE Year anniversary of our stay here in Germany.  We arrived early on a Sunday morning.  It was a blustery day but today is beautiful out so I went to the market to get the things I always buy off of the economy and did company and house work today.  It was so mild that I needed to change into shorts and opened all of the windows to get the fresh air in.  They were open for over an hour.  I spent over an hour speaking with my boss on various projects that I need to do this week.

Ted got home at the normal time and we had dinner then he finished setting up the Wii.  We bowled a few games and it was TOTALLY fun!!!  He beat me but not for long!!  LOL!  I get to practice during the day when he's not around.

Day 363: Under the weather Sunday!

Ted got up late again so we didn't make to church again this week.  I was bummed.  It rained for part of the day but luckily it cleared up later in the day.  So we had a leisurely breakfast and did some emailing etc.  Then we got dressed and went to the base where my dear husband gifted me, or I should say, us with a Wii Console and Wii Fit Plus.  I know he's going to have a ball setting it up and figuring things out.  But I know I'm going to have fun playing with it during the day and getting some much needed exercise in.

After doing a little bit of grocery shopping at the commissary, we went home and Ted proceeded to put together the Wii.  He wanted to watch some videos so the setup wasn't done and I'm not bothered by it at all since I have lots to do in the morning.

Day 362: Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart

We were supposed to go out of town today but because it's going to rain, we decided to go see the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart instead. It's a great way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon in Stuttgart.

On the way we stopped at the car dealership to get a quote on some needed repairs on the car.  The Italian guy we normally talk to, Santos, was not there.  However, there was a woman who spoke Italian so I was able to communicate what we needed.  She called her colleague who spoke a little English.  And he looked at the car and gave us a quote.  Now we have to get a second quote from Anna's brother who has a body shop about 5 km from where we live.

We used Julie (our GPS navigator) to get us to the museum and it's located near the Porsche stadium.  There was a soccer game going on there so we couldn't go where Julie told us to go so we rode around until Julie caught up to us and got us back on course.

We parked the car in the underground museum parking lot and went inside.  Before going inside we noticed there were older models of Mercedes cars in plexiglass boxes in the underground parking lot.  It was very cool to look at the cars and read about them.  I think the museum curator wanted to give you a taste of what the museum would be like.  They have a cafe and there are used Mercedes cars for sale on display there.  They look brand new, but of course, they are not.

Once again, the museum is very smart!  Like IKEA, they make you walk through different areas where kiosks sell all kinds of products with the Mercedes logo.  And there were other items as well including history books.  We bought our tickets and  started through the museum.  Below  are some pictures from the museum.

These antique cars reminded me of the antique car museum at the Canfield Fairgrounds, only on a bigger, grander scale, of course!

Ah...the glamour of the 1930s and 1940s!  They are something!

How would you like to tool around town in something like this?  I sure would!  What a conversation starter!

Now this was really cool!  The doors are reminiscent of the DeLauren, which I'm  sure got their inspiration from this very car, by the looks of it! 

At first I thought that big station wagon  looking car was a hearse and thought that was a tad bit tacky...until...we looked closer.  It was the command center for the test car in front of it.  There were cables from the car in  front to the car behind it so they could monitor all sorts of things! 

If you look closely, you can  see the cables running from the car in front to the top of this car.  In the back was the testing equipment with chairs for the people who monitored the test equipment.  How ingenious of them to rig up something like this to  test the cars!






Finally it was time to leave. The museum closed the way to get to the elevator to get to the car.  It was a little tricky but we finally managed to find our car and go to dinner at Capri where the owner graciously gifted me with a bottle of Italian pressed olive oil which is terrific!

Then it was home to watch movies.
